Voting for a Strong Economy

The race to elect a President of the United States is of interest to the World. Despite the economic growth of many other Nations the United States is still the superpower at this point in time.

Barbadians want the same thing that Americans want from a new administration - an ability to manage the economy well. With all the talk of a looming recession, we all need an administration that will ensure that the impact is softened as much as possible. When businesses contract in capital exporting countries the impact is felt abroad in countries like Barbados. Individuals will seek to take their holidays closer to home, talks of outsourcing work, taking on new employees and investing abroad will recede. The United States in a down turn usually means a world in a down turn.

As far as the race itself goes, it should be a lesson to all of us who pay too much attention to those who tell us that we can not - for neither candidate is the wrong age, the wrong colour nor the wrong gender to win! We wish them well.
