The Barbados Music Awards certainly must be given our fullest support as it helps to generate work for a number of our small businesses around Barbados leading up to and during this event.
We should not underestimate the value that visiting artists bring to the tourism sector. There are a number of small businesses that are important in the tourism sector such as hotels, car rentals and restaurants of all kinds - both formal and informal.
It is apparent that the fashion industry gets a big boost with many individuals attending believing that it is important to use local designers for their attire on the night of the awards. Make-up and Hair is also very critical at this time and those small businesses certainly get a well deserved boost.
Then there are all of those players in the music industry that are rewarded - DJs, Journalists, Musicians, Producers and Singers.
The Barbados Music Awards generates thousands of dollars in business for our small businesses. We need to give initiatives such as this one as much support as possible.
Congratulations to all of the winners especially Rihanna and Lil Rick - Entertainers of the Year.
